Project Description
CEI performed a Pilot Study for MassDOT to determine the feasibility of using UAVs to identify physical conditions affecting stormwater BMP performance and inform management decisions for maintaining the serviceability of stormwater infrastructure. CEI then field tested this technology in the highway setting with the objectives of 1) identifying where in MassDOT’s roadway system the technology can be used; 2) whether additional and/or improved data can be obtained using UAVs compared to on-the-ground inspections; and 3) identify how to manage the data obtained using UAVs.
In addition to the above noted pilot, CEI has used UAVs to generate maintenance items for improvements to BMPs including the need to perform structural modifications to enhance performance.
