Green Streets: increasing roadway and parking lot infiltration

BACK TO PROJECTS

Project Description

CEI worked with the Town of Pembroke to reduce impervious surfaces within the Oldham Pond Watersheds. CEI designed and installed pervious paver strip along Wampatuck Street in Pembroke to infiltrate runoff from the roadway and parking spaces along the roadway, significantly reducing the volume of stormwater directly entering Oldham Pond.

This project also included the removal of an asphalt overflow parking lot for vehicles and boat trailers. This seasonal parking area was in need of repair and was replaced with a grassed geoblock parking zone and porous asphalt driving lane. Due to this parking areas proximity adjacent to Oldham Pond; its seasonal use; and lack of sand, salt and snow plowing in the winter months, it was determined to be an ideal location for porous material.
