Project Description

CEI worked with the City of Somerville and provided LSP services and technical support related to the industrial site demolition of the Kemp Nut Facility.  This was a fast moving project that involved a complete site environmental survey. Testing included asbestos and lead paint. CEI provided consulting and environmental engineering services for MCP related issues that included several underground storage tanks and hazardous building materials. In addition to the environmental sampling, CEI developed technical specifications, assisted in the bidding process and provided the necessary documentation to acquire funding for reclamation of the site as parkland and green space. CEI was responsible for completing the design and providing construction services for the removal of all waste for park construction. Specific services included development of the remedial action plan that included a site demolition bid package; oversight of site demolition activities including the removal of underground storage tanks; facility lead decontamination; asbestos removal; air particular dust monitoring programs; and site remediation of lead and oil contaminated residual wastes.
