air permitting & recordkeeping - furniture manufacturing

Back to Project

Project Description

A NH manufacturer of wood furniture was inspected by DES and required to prepare an air permit for their spray coating process and their wood-fired boiler. CEI inventoried the coatings used by the facility, the toxics within each coating and evaluated their operations to estimate potential and actual coating use and toxic emissions at the facility. These emissions were modeled in accordance with NHDES Procedure for Air Quality Impact Modeling using both screening and refined dispersion models. CEI prepared the permit application to the State and reviews new coatings for compliance on an ongoing basis. CEI also prepared the permit application for the wood-fired boiler, using AP-42 emission factors to determine emission rates. This was also modeled using EPA screening and refined modeling procedures. When the facility relocated, CEI assisted with stack height design by modeling various stack heights to determine the best stack with the least emission impacts to outside receptors.
