When Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection issued an Emergency Regulation for perchlorate in drinking water, CEI worked with the Town of Westford to identify the source of perchlorate that was found in the Westford system and to provide options for the remediation of the perchlorate; the treatment of the drinking water well if necessary and for reducing ongoing releases to the aquifer. CEI worked for the Water Department, the Town Administrator and the Board of Health in the investigation.
The investigations' preliminary results were reported within eight weeks, and finalization of the report is now near completion. The groundwater model above is a representation of the aquifer and potential transport of perchlorate on top of the bedrock.
