Position Description:
This position involves a wide range of projects that may include water resources, hazardous waste and civil engineering projects. Employee will perform a variety of tasks which may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Office Duties
Map development using GIS and/or AutoCAD
Design-related computations, research and assessment
Development of plans and specifications
Computer modeling (including a wide variety of environmental and infrastructure models)
Report writing, editing and production
Database entry and development
Meetings and project activity documentation
Graphics preparation
Regulatory analysis and write up
Research, analysis of data and data reduction
Field Related Activities
Data collection and documentation
Sampling of wells and surface water, soil, air discharges, gas and wastes
Limited topographic surveys
Construction oversight reporting
Fire flow testing
Field verification of maps
Stream and pond surveys
Bathymetric and sediment depth mapping
Stormwater and drainage studies
Hazardous waste site operations management
Employee will receive training in these and other areas as needed for skill and competency development based on available workload. The typical staff engineer will spend about half of his/her time on office duties and half on field duties.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelors Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
>0-3 years experience preferred
Masters Degree preferred
AutoCAD experience highly desirable
EIT preferred
Valid driver's license required
OSHA's 40 hour HAZWOPER certification (must be obtained prior to beginning employment)
Special Requirements
Employment is contingent upon results of a background check that includes verification of all employment, registration and certification history, a driver's record that meets CEI criteria, and reference checks. Must currently be able to work in the U.S. without a sponsorship. Candidates must supply a minimum of three professional references. Pre-employment medical exam may also be required, at CEI's expense.
