This project involved conducting a Phase II (Level II) Site Characterization to evaluate the nature and extent of contamination migrating from an industrial site towards a Potentially Productive Aquifer, as well as preparation of a Release Abatement Measure Plan to implement the remedial action. Additionally, the project included completion of a Phase III Feasibility Study and a Phase IV Remedial Implementation Plan, with Phase V Operation and Monitoring.

Highlights

  • Installation of monitoring wells and conducting of insitu hydraulic conductivity tests

  • Use of hydrogeologic tests to develop flow rates and treatment requirements

  • Completion of 250' long x 33' deep interceptor trench with central recovery well

  • Design and installation of groundwater collection and treatment system

  • Development of a Sampling and Analytical Plan and a soils/materials handling protocol approved by DEP

  • Implementation of source control for 94 tons of RCRA waste

  • Expansion of the treatment system for additional polishing and softening with the water being used as internal plant process cooling water - saving the company over 2 million gallons per year in municipal water usage
